Around the world there are various understandings of the meaning of the Dragonfly. In Japan, they are revered and respected, being symbolic of happiness, strength, courage and success. The Dragonfly is an important cultural symbol and was believed to be the spirit of the rice plant and a harbinger of rich harvests. According to the Zuni of North America, the Dragonfly is a messenger who carries our prayers to Spirit World.
